Stakeholders meeting on biomassთარიღი: 13 აპრ '17
The stakeholders meeting on biomass was held at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia last Wednesday (5th of April). The aim of the meeting was to share information regarding the progress of the project on Promotion of Biomass Production and Utilization in Georgia, discuss the Biomass Standards, the Biomass Energy Strategy and Action Plan and establishment of the Biomass Association of Georgia.
During the meeting, Mr. Vakhtan Berishvili, Project Manager, presented the results and achievements of the GEF/UNDP Project on biomass. The discussion was followed by Mr. Neil Harisson, international biomass expert, who spoke about the biomass market in other countries around the world. Mr. Harrison presented the New Zealand experience, showing how the country started to growth its biomass market installing efficient biomass boilers in strategic public buildings.
The meeting was followed by Mr. Archil Magalashvili, Associated Professor Director of the Ilia State University who is currently developing the biomass standards, and Mr. Murman Margvelashvili, National Biomass Expert, who is developing the National Biomass Energy Strategy and Action Plan. At the end of the meeting Mrs. Giovanna Christo, international biomass consultant, presented about the Biomass Association of Georgia, which was established recently. Mrs. Christo explained about the association’s creation process, mission/vision, current founders and next steps of the organization.
